Foundation

Our commitment to sustainable aquaculture goes far beyond investing in innovative companies.

Truly resolving production challenges to move toward a sustainable, healthy and fully optimal aquaculture industry means enabling the participation of all aqua farmers in this vision. Though our portfolio’s reach is growing, there are many millions of aqua farmers lacking access to quality inputs, insights and technical expertise. This urgently needs to change.

One way we are doing this is by working with our portfolio companies to develop outgrower programs to reach farmers and supply them with inputs, knowledge and access to market opportunities, catalyzing local sustainable industries.

Additionally, we need more research in order to expand the use and adoption of aquaculture products.

To address these needs we have established the Aqua-Spark Foundation, a non-profit entity that aims at removing these bottlenecks to accelerate the transition of the sector towards a truly inclusive and cutting-edge food production system.

The Aqua-Spark Foundation will launch with an initial focus on Africa, where in partnership with the Rockefeller Foundation and our portfolio we are extending supply chains to reach smaller scale farmers, and promoting zoning and carrying capacity studies to ensure the sustainable expansion of these farms.

More information coming soon.
